Mark Owens   

Assistant Professor of New Testament 

B.Sc. Ed., University of Georgia; M.Div., Th.M., Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary; Ph.D., University of Aberdeen (UK)

Dr. Owens grew up on the tiny island of Grand Cayman (Cayman Islands).  He came to faith in Christ while studying at the University of Georgia and was soon led to pursue a teaching ministry.  Upon graduation from UGA, Dr. Owens soon enrolled at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, where he earned a Master of Divinity degree with languages and a Master of Theology degree in New Testament Studies.  Mark then began doctoral studies at the University of Aberdeen in 2007 and has earned a Doctor of Philosophy degree in New Testament Studies.  His research at the University of Aberdeen focused on the Apostle Paul’s understanding of new creation and its relationship to the Old Testament.  During his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his wife Rachel, fishing, watching SEC College Football, and jogging.
