JEFF MEYERS | June 12, 1973 - Dec 4, 2025
Adjunct Professor of Evangelism
B.A., Baylor University; M.Div., Ph.D., Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary
Dr. Jeff Meyers went home to be with the Lord in the night hours of December 4, 2025, at the age of 52. A beloved professor, pastor, husband, and father, Dr. Meyers faithfully served Luther Rice College & Seminary as Professor of Evangelism beginning in 2009 and pastored First Baptist Church in Opelika, Alabama beginning in 2016. Many will also remember his years shepherding First Baptist Church in Conyers, Georgia. We cherish his legacy of gospel conviction, pastoral compassion, and faithful ministry.
Dr. Meyers is survived by his wife, Traci, and their three sons, Marshall, George, and Jonathan. He graduated from Baylor University in Waco, Texas in 1995 with a Bachelor of Arts in Religion. He later earned a Master of Divinity with Biblical Languages in 1998 and a Doctor of Philosophy in Theology in 2004 from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas.
Throughout the course of his ministry, Dr. Meyers served as Senior Pastor of Greenwell Springs Baptist Church in Greenwell Springs, Louisiana; First Baptist Church in Conyers, Georgia; and East Booneville Baptist Church in Booneville, Mississippi, before beginning his pastoral ministry in Opelika. In addition to his pastoral work, he authored five books: Ask Jeff: The Top 10 Questions Asked, Stand: The Christian’s Response to a Compromised Culture, 24 Hours that Changed the World, Simple: Understanding Revelation, and God vs. god: Spiritual Warfare in Heavenly Places.
We invite continued prayers for Traci, their sons, and the First Baptist Opelika family. Even in our grief, we rest in the promise of the Gospel, confident that our brother Jeff is now in the presence of Christ.
