The Waddle School of Leadership at Luther Rice equips Christian men and women to lead with biblical conviction, Christ-like character, and a servant-leader's heart. Named in honor of Jim and Phyllis Waddle and the Waddle family, the school reflects a legacy of faithful service to Christ, Luther Rice, the local church, and the mission field. Jim Waddle demonstrated Christian leadership throughout his life as a railroad executive, pastor, missionary, author, and Luther Rice trustee.

A Legacy of Faithful Leadership

Jim Waddle’s life was marked by humble beginnings, hard work, and a deep commitment to serve God wherever He placed him. From Southern Railway to Lithonia Central Baptist Church, from Luther Rice to mission fields around the world, Jim viewed leadership as stewardship. His defining conviction, “I will serve God in that shop,” reflected a life committed to following Christ first and leading others faithfully in whatever God assigned him to do, and wherever God called him to do it. The Waddle School of Leadership carries that legacy forward by preparing students to lead in churches, ministries, organizations, businesses, and communities, as winsome ambassadors for Christ.
