The Bachelor of Arts in Religion to Master of Divinity-Advanced Track is an enrollment path that allows exceptional students to complete the Bachelor of Arts in Religion and Master of Divinity in 156 credit hours as opposed to the 201 to 210 credit hours required taking the programs independently.
To the student who is prepared for the rigor of graduate-level study, the Bachelor of Arts in Religion to Master of Divinity-Advanced Track offers the opportunity to complete Master of Divinity courses while enrolled in the Bachelor of Arts in Religion program (counting towards both degrees). This Advanced Track program significantly reduces both the time and cost of completion for both degrees. Upon completion of the 120-credit hour undergraduate degree, 36 credit hours are completed at the master’s level to earn the Master of Divinity.

BA to MDIV Advanced Track Entrance Requirements
- Applicants desiring entrance into the Bachelor of Arts in Religion to Master of Divinity-Advanced Track must first apply to Bachelor of Arts in Religion degree and have completed the requirements for a high school diploma with a minimum GPA of 2.0 (on a 4.0 scale).
- Accreditation standards require students to be deemed “exceptional” to be accepted into an Advanced Track program. The following describes the process of identifying an “exceptional” student:
- Students must take 30 undergraduate hours prior to being evaluated and admitted to the Bachelor of Arts in Religion to Master of Divinity-Advanced Track. The 30 credit hours can be taken at Luther Rice or transferred into Luther Rice. Dual Enrollment courses taken in high school will be counted toward the 30 credit hours and GPA calculation.
- Earn a cumulative undergraduate grade point average of 3.50 for the 30 credit hours. Applicants with an undergraduate grade point average between 3.25 and 3.50 may request a review by the Master of Divinity Program Coordinator
- Have a recommendation from an undergraduate professor pertaining to academic aptitude and behavior
- Submit a writing sample for evaluation by the Master of Divinity Program Coordinator.
- Students who don’t qualify for the Bachelor of Arts in Religion to Master of Divinity-Advanced Track will continue course work in the 120-credit hour Bachelor of Arts in Religion degree.
